Fire victims receive aid from TBS, welfare office

MIRI: A family of six left homeless after a fire gutted their house at Kampung Tanjung Berlipat in Niah near here on Thursday received assistance from Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) and Miri community welfare office   yesterday.

TBS Miri head Marini Juraibi, who visited the victims yesterday morning, handed over immediate relief assistance in the form of cash to the head of the family, 37-year-old Awang Borhan Awang Buang.

Also present during the handing over of aid were Awang Borhan’s wife Noreen Jumat, 36, four sons as well as other
staff of TBS Miri and fellow villagers.

The fire which occurred around 6pm on Thursday had totally gutted the 40-year-old village house. No injuries were reported in the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.
