SERIKIN: Soldiers from the Fourth Regiment Royal Armoured Corps foiled an attempt to smuggle a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle out of the country via the Malaysia-Indonesia border.

Its commanding officer Lt Col Shamzaini Misran said a 26-year-old local man was detained at 7.05am.

“We received information from the police a day before the arrest was made, regarding a report of a missing 4WD vehicle.

Following the information received the army patrolled at a route which smugglers often used to smuggle vehicles and goods to the border.

“We also seized cash amounting to RM10,000 and drugs paraphernalia. The suspect and all the items seized were handed over to the Bau Police District headquarters for further action,” Shamzaini said.
