SARIKEI: Contractors of Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects are urged to strictly abide by the terms and conditions of their contracts.

Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii said while it is important to comply with the projects specification, contractors should also ensure works are duly completed on time. Huang said this on a site visit to a church here where upgrading works had been delayed for several months.

“It is the responsibility of the contractor concerned to deliver the project according to specification and on time,” he said.

Apart from unavoidable circumstances such as rainy days, no excuse would be accepted for the delay, he stressed.

Should they engage sub-contractors to do certain works, it was still the responsibility of the main contractor to ensure the assigned works were done accordingly, he added.

He also called on Sarikei District Council to help monitor and supervise the project to ensure strict compliance to quality requirements and schedule.

The upgrading work on the church costing RM500,000 was one the projects approved under 2017 RTP fund.  Among those who accompanied Huang were SDC chairperson Wong Zee Yeng and local community leaders.
