eginning today, selected OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad (OCBC Bank) and OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad (OCBC Al-Amin) branches in the Klang Valley will open every Saturday from 10am to 2.30pm for all banking services except cheque clearance and remittances.

The six participating branches for the Saturday at OCBC initiative – OCBC Bank in Kepong, Petaling Jaya, Rawang, Subang Jaya and Puchong, and OCBC Al-Amin in Bandar Botanic – will draw from the proven ongoing weekend banking successes of their Melaka and Taman Molek counterparts.

The move is in line with growing customer demand and makes OCBC a key driving force behind weekend banking.

According to OCBC Bank chief executive officer Datuk Ong Eng Bin, Saturday at OCBC platform comes at a time when the demand for weekend banking is at an all-time high with customers’ weekday time-constraints becoming increasingly evident.

“Several of our customers have been telling us that their weekdays are extremely tight and many simply don’t have the time to perform over-the-counter transactions that require them to come by to the branch Monday to Friday.

“By opening for these four-and-a-half hours on Saturdays, we believe a significant burden will be lifted off their shoulders,” he said.
