KOTA SAMARAHAN: Dayak Artistes and Musician Association (Dama) has called on all Dayak music enthusiasts to support the Dayak Music Awards next year.
According to its deputy president Brown Sang, they expect organising the next event to be daunting, but are optimistic that with the support from Dayak music enthusiasts, the event would be a success.
He also hoped that everyone involved in the Dayak music industry would cooperate with each other in order to develop the Dayak music industry to greater height.
“I believe that the Dayak music industry will not only develop but also contribute much to the country’s music industry as well,” he said during an event recently.
He also said that with the Dayak music industry developing, it would contribute to the preservation of Dayak languages and culture.
Brown recently attended the launching of a musical album by a local Dayak band ‘Merge Band’, at Humah Nibong here.With the band releasing an album, it a good sign that the Dayak industry is developing. He thus hope that more Dayak musicians and artistes would continue to contribute towards the industry.
Merge Band leader Vivian Blun hoped that Dama and all Dayak music enthusiasts, would continue to be committed in contributing towards the Dayak music industry.
He also believed that Dama would continue to be a platform for Dayaks to develop the industry together, and that the Dayak Music Awards would continue to recognise excellent Dayak music talents.
