MIRI: Organisers of Quality, Health, Safety, Environment and Traffic (QHSET) Week 2018 are lauded for creating safety, health and environmental awareness among project team, workers, the public and other stakeholders in the Pan-Borneo highway project in Sarawak.

The campaign is a useful strategy for the public, especially  road users here, to have a clearer picture of the works carried out under the Sg Tangap-Pujut Link work package of the Pan Borneo Highway.

“Such information will enable the public to exert extra care when approaching the construction site, and to prevent any untoward incident, says mayor of Miri City Council Adam Yii when officiating at QHSET Week in respect of the SgTangap-Pujut Link work package of Pan Borneo Highway at Emart Riam shopping mall here yesterday.

“The event is jointly organised by Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd and the work package contractor Konsortium KPE Sdn Bhd.

“The QHSET campaign can serve as a refresher course for the project teams and workers on the standard operating procedures (SOP) that should be practised from time to time.

“The campaign can also create awareness among members of the project implementation team of the need to protect the environment and the safety of the road users,” he added.

Yii also congratulated Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd, Konsortium KPE Sdn Bhd as well as several other relevant government departments and agencies for holding the QHSET campaign.

Touching on the traffic flow at the work package area, Yii said he was glad to see that steps had been taken to erect sufficient safety and traffic directional signs and notices to alert the road users of the road work ahead.

Similar QHSET campaigns are also held in different package areas during the campaign period from Oct 3 to 9.

Colouring contest, poster-design competition as well as safety and health talks were among side activities of the event yesterday.

It also featured several booths including those by the Ministry of Health, Road Transport Department and Social Security Organisation (Socso) are being set up at the event site.

Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd project manager Anup Kumar Sinha was also present at the event.
