Keningau school joins national dance competition

KOTA KINABALU: Ten pupils from SK Kampung Keningau are on their way to Shah Alam, Selangor to take part in a national dance competition.

They are part of the D’Olumis Dance group from the school representing Sabah in the competition to be held at the Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam.

The Primary Four to Six pupils will perform the ‘zapin’, ‘inang’ and ‘joget’ under the ‘Rampaian’ category and ‘rambai’ dance under the ethnic category.

They are accompanied by their teacher, Siti Asmah Abdullah who said that her students were good performers and were capable of winning the top spots at the competition.

Assistant Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Dr Daud Yusof who saw the pupils off at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport yesterday, stressed for more co-curricular activities for schools in rural areas, particularly in creative arts.

He mentioned that student involvement in creative arts is still low.
