Second meeting of 14th parliament will last for 30 days

KUALA LUMPUR: The second meeting of the of the first term of the 14th Parliament sitting will last for 30 days, starting Oct 15 (Monday) to Dec 11.

Dewan Rakyat secretary Datuk Roosme Hamzah said in a statement today that the meeting notice to the parliamentarians was issued on Sept 14.

“The first order of business for the first week will be the swearing-in ceremony of the MP to fill the Port Dickson parliamentary seat on Oct 15 at 10 am and will continue with debate on Bills and other governmental affairs,” she said.

While on Oct 18, the mid-term review of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) will be tabled by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at 4 pm.

According to Roosme, the debate for the mid-term review of 11MP will take place during the second week while the ministers will be responding on it during the third week.

Meanwhile, the Supply Bill 2019 (Budget 2019) is scheduled to be tabled on Nov 2 at 4 pm, followed by its debate at the policy stage in the fourth and fifth weeks, before being brought to the committee stage in seventh and eighth weeks.

The statement mentioned that the last two days (in the ninth week) will be allocated for the Bills and other governmental affairs.

Meanwhile, the Dewan Negara sitting for 12 days starting on Dec 3 will also deliberate on the mid-term review of the 11MP and Budget 2019.
