KUCHING: Huat Tzu Kong charity group came to the aid of a patient, Chandra Mohamed Akber, who was referred by the Sarawak General Hospital recently.

The patient used to work as a janitor before she was diagnosed with septic shock. Currently her only child, an 18-year-old daughter had to stop her college education to take care of her full-time.

She receives RM200 aid from Sarawak Welfare Department, but it is insufficient to sustain the family of two with outstanding house rental of three months.

This prompted the hospital to write a letter requesting help from the charity group to pay her outstanding rent.

During a recent visit, the group not only gave her cash, but also food items. The group has been doing charity work since 2014, and the public are welcome to call Ng Ah Zen at 016-552 5552 to inform them of any needy families.
