BELAGA: A foreigner was arrested by police here for possession of drugs at the junction of a road leading to a longhouse and the main road of the Sungei Asap resettlement scheme on Tuesday.
District police chief DSP Brodie Brangka said police found in his possession one plastic packet and 13 straw tubes of crystalline substances believed to be Syabu weighing 5.2 grammes.
The suspect was remanded for investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 that provides for a minimum jail term of two years and whipping of not less than three strokes on conviction.
Brodie added that in the same operation, the police also detained a suspected woman drug addict and tested her urine.
“From the test, the woman was found positive for drugs and was detained for further investigation under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
