KUCHING: In its quest to facilitate a greener environment, Naim Group of Companies will join hands with Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia (Tzu Chi) in organising a public programme known as ‘3Rs’ – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – this month.

Naim is Sarawak’s leading property developer and four-time winner of the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Environmental Award (CMEA), while Tzu Chi is an international humanitarian organisation and non-governmental organisation (NGO) focusing on various charitable causes.

The programme will run concurrently at Naim Kuching Sales Gallery, Green Road and Naim Clubhouse at Naim SouthLake Permyjaya, Miri this Saturday (Oct 20) from 9am until 12pm.

Participants load recyclable items into a lorry during a previously-held 3R event in Bintulu.

Members of the public are invited to join the programme.

The event will feature a talk on the concept of 3Rs by Tzu Chi and creative ways in which these can be incorporated effectively in daily life.

In addition, participants will be shown some useful products made from recycled materials such as prosthetics for the less fortunate built from ring pull-tabs from aluminium drink cans.

The public is also encouraged to drop off items which can be recycled such as plastic bottles, papers, aluminium cans, old shoes and clothes at the aforesaid venues.

Naim’s general manager for corporate communications Caroline Yeo said the programme demonstrates the Group’s commitment in driving the spirit of environmental conservation among the communities.

“We believe every little help can go a long way in conserving our environment. At Naim, we try our best to integrate environmental-friendly practices in our daily operations such as reduction in paper usage and electricity consumption, and car-pooling. Besides this, we have also played a part in forest and wetlands conservation in collaboration with various agencies. We have even built a bridge from scrap tyres previously. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. As such, let us all work together to protect Mother Nature!” she said.
