MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia is now opening the third trimester intake for its foundation programmes, beginning this Dec 3.

This intake provides potential students, both local and international, the option to enrol in the foundation programme of their choice immediately without having to wait for the March semester intake – allowing for more flexibility in terms of study periods.

The Curtin campus here – touted as Curtin University’s largest international campus and also the global hub in Asia – provides one-year foundation programmes in Engineering, Science, Commerce and Arts (Media), which feed directly into its undergraduate courses in the faculties of Engineering And Science, Business as well as Humanities.

All undergraduate courses at Curtin Malaysia are identical to those at its main campus in Perth, Australia – but at affordable fees. Moreover, Curtin Malaysia students can transfer to the main campus in Perth, or others in Singapore, Dubai or Mauritius, to finish their degree programmes – should they choose to.

According to Curtin Malaysia deputy pro vice-chancellor Prof Beena Giridharan, the new model not only offers another window for enrolment that could be better suited to potential students’ needs, but also allows Curtin Malaysia to better address the current needs of its foundation students.

“Some students, especially the international students, desire greater flexibility to balance their study and lifestyle commitments so that they can make the most of their student’s experience here,” she said.

The foundation programmes at Curtin Malaysia are designed for school-leavers to gain the essential skills and knowledge for a smooth transition to tertiary education, providing the best possible fundamentals to undertake a Bachelor’s degree. All programmes are recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

School-leavers with outstanding results in their examinations are advised to take advantage of the Curtin Malaysia Foundation Scholarships and Curtin Malaysia Merit Scholarships for entry into its foundation programmes.

To find out more, potential students and their parents are invited to visit Curtin Malaysia Miri Campus for walk-in enquiries, between 9am and 5pm – Mondays to Fridays. Students are advised to bring along their examination results for assessment and on-the-spot applications.
