MIRI: The developer of Marina Central Park is seeking public cooperation in the maintenance and housekeeping of the park, including its facilities.

This call is made following cases of vandalism reported there.

In a press statement yesterday, Perdana Parkcity Sdn Bhd marketing manager Lai Wai Leng expressed her disappointment over the incident, stressing that the park was built by the company for public use.

“Two of our giant light pillars have been vandalised. This should not be the case, as it (park) is a part of our efforts in beautifying Miri – the property is meant for the visitors to enjoy.

“Thus, we sincerely call upon all Mirians to continue guarding against such unruly behaviour and help preserve the amenities provided,” she said in a statement.

The giant light pillars, covered with glass panels, are among the park’s decorations – they would illuminate the park with different coloured lights during certain occasions.

Adding further, Lai regarded Miri Central Park as a popular gathering venue that has now become the ‘social hub for the Miri community’.

“It also serves as an urban park, serving as a venue for many cultural and festive celebrations, as well as entertainment events throughout the year.

“With shady trees, lush landscaping, as well as jogging paths and walkways, the place is suitable for walking, jogging and cycling – it has become the best option for the community to exercise a healthy lifestyle.

“Hence, we appeal for the consideration and cooperation from the Miri community to protect this facility,” said Lai.
