Pharmacists jointly cut a ribbon to mark the opening of Alpro Pharmacy’s newest outlet in Matang Jaya yesterday.

KUCHING: Alpro Pharmacy is more than just dispensing medicine or advice on the treatment of minor conditions and healthy living. It also extends professional services and personalised care to customers.

Its marketing manager Calvin Lau Kar Weng said there are still many who are unaware of the range of services they provide.

According to him, Alpro Pharmacy provides Home Care Services (HCS) where they assist patients who may not have sufficient understanding when it comes to taking their medicine, and also caregivers who may not have adequate knowledge on home care and how to look after their patients.

“These types of services are not available in Sarawak, and we want to tell customers of the services that we offer. Hospitals may not supply everything for the patients when they are discharged. We provide services for different needs,” he said.

Another service offered by the pharmacy is the renting of hospital beds, wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, and oxygen concentrators for both short and long term.

Lau said Alpro Pharmacy also guarantees that all its medicines and products are genuine, and even provide insurance to the tune of RM1 million for customers on all products.

“We know exactly where our products come from; no counterfeit. If something unfortunate happens with what they buy from us, we have a RM1-million insurance for all of our members.

“That is what we pharmacists do to ensure safety and it goes with Alpro Pharmacy’s tagline ‘Medication Safety, Our Priority’.” The pharmacy also provides a medicine list, or medilist, which is a card detailing a patient’s medication, strength and dosage, to help minimise unnecessary medication errors and enhance medication safety.

Lau, meanwhile, also disclosed that plans are in the pipeline for Alpro Pharmacy to open its own physiotherapy centre and clinic in Sarawak. Alpro Pharmacy currently has four outlets in Sarawak – all in Kuching – in Satok, Premier 101, Tabuan Jaya and its newest one in Matang Jaya.

In conjunction with the opening of its Matang Jaya outlet yesterday, there is an offer of free membership as well as promotions on various products until Nov 6.

“The usual membership fee is RM10. From now till Nov 6, we are having a promotion at the Matang Jaya outlet where registration is free, as customers will receive a voucher worth RM10 when they sign up.

“Membership benefits apply for all 64 Alpro Pharmacy outlets throughout Malaysia,” added Lau.
