KUALA LUMPUR: The National Defence Study Centre (Puspahanas),currently under construction at Precinct 1 in Putrajaya, is expected to begin operation in June next year, Malaysian Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin said yesterday.

He said the centre would house the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MPAT), the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MTAT), the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MIDAS) and a new college, the National Defence College (NDC), all under one roof.

“The first course at the centre will start in September next year after the move of the colleges to the new premises, to be carried out in stages beginning June,” he told reporters after being declared the 10th member of the Hall of Fame at MPAT here yesterday.

The declaration was made by MPAT Commandant Datuk Sabri Zali.

The move of MPAT, MTAT and MIDAS, currently operating at Jalan Maktab here, to Puspahanas, is to provide a more conducive teaching and learning environment for the students.

On the setting up of the new college, NDC, Zulkifli said it would only provide courses related to strategic matters and on national defence for ATN officers with the rank of Colonel and Brigadier-General.

On him being declared a member of the Hall of Fame, Zulkifli, 60, said it was an honour and promised to contribute for the development of MPAT.

The Hall of Fame is MPAT’s highest recognition to its alumni members who are still serving and holding the highest post in the service.— Bernama
