Shell has been driving talent development for the past 40 years through its scholarship programme, as part of its contribution towards the country’s nation building.

The scholarship is intended for students who are interested to pursue their higher education in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) sphere.

Currently Malaysia has a STEM-related workforce of less than three per cent as compared to other developed nations. There is a strong call to address this matter in today’s digital world that emphasises on innovation.

To ensure there is a pool of relevant and skilled professionals to meet the future’s human capital needs, Shell has taken the initiative to develop talent in STEM through this scholarship fund.

“As an employer of choice, Shell aims attract the best of talent and assist them in pursuing their educational aspirations for their future entry into the energy industry. Through our efforts in encouraging innovation and investing in new skills, we believe that we will be able to develop these talents by providing them opportunities to be a part of Shell’s businesses, locally and internationally,” explains Datuk Iain Lo, chairman of Shell Malaysia.

Shell believes that education and local talent development are two of the most impactful levers for building a pool of innovative and competitive talent.

The organisation strives to assist the nation’s best and brightest into becoming the future’s most sought-after leaders and captains of industry.
