State budget should allocate funds for NCR perimeter survey — Majang

A government backbencher has suggested that part of the State Budget 2019 be allocated for native customary rights (NCR) land perimeter survey.

Majang Renggi (PRS-Samalaju) said the allocation was necessary because the people are expecting their land to be surveyed and issued titles following the amendment to the Sarawak Land Code in the previous State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting this year.

“I am suggesting that the allocation from the State Budget 2019 be given for NCR land perimeter survey because the NCR landowners are expecting it after the amendment to the Sarawak Land Code during the last DUN sitting.

“At the same time, it is also hoped that NCR land and individual lots that have been surveyed be issued land titles as soon as possible,” he told the august House yesterday when debating the State Budget 2019.
