Pos Malaysia issues Mickey Mouse stamp series

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday and the 2018 Stamp Week from Nov 12 until 18,  Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) will launch a collection of stamps featuring the famous Disney animated character.

Head of the Stamp and Philately Unit ​​​​​​​Diyana Lean Abdullah said the stamp series was the first collaborative effort between Pos Malaysia and The Walt Disney Company Malaysia.

“Mickey Mouse is an iconic figure which is a part of our lives. Its antics do not only bring joy to children but also to the whole family. These stamps are also aimed at attracting a new generation to the 2018 Stamp Week,” she told reporters at the launch of the stamp series here yesterday.

She said the Mickey Mouse memorabilia was in limited edition folders containing two Mickey Mouse stamps, four envelopes with pre-printed stamps, and four postal cards with pre-printed stamps.

“The special folder sets are sold at RM90 each. We are also selling two special Mickey Mouse postal cards with pre-print stamps at RM10 each. We urge fans or stamp collectors to get this special collections because there are only 5,000 folder sets and 2,000 postal card sets,” she said.

The special Mickey Mouse folder and postal card sets can be obtained at all 13 Main Post Offices and selected postal offices throughout the country or through email at

Diyana Lean added Pos Malaysia was also issuing Malaysian Community Lives Series 2 depicting activities like kite-flying, playing musical instruments, fishing, stamp collecting and designing during the 2018 Stamp Week.

“There are five Malaysian Community Life stamps issued and each is priced at 60 sen. We are also issuing five postal cards with similar images. These cards are sold at RM1 each,” she said.

She added that Pos Malaysia will also be issuing Commemorative Samples of Malaysia’s achievements at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang 18th Asian Games on Nov 15. — Bernama
