The impact from the collision causes the 4WD occupants to be pinned onto their seats.

LIMBANG: A Slovak and a local woman were killed in a collision between a four-wheel drive vehicle (4WD) and a cargo lorry near Kampung Batu Bakarang around noon yesterday.

The incident also injured three other individuals – all foreigners.

Limbang District police chief Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 71-year-old Slovakian man was the front-seat passenger of the 4WD, while the local woman, aged 27, was the driver.

Both died on the spot, he said.

“It is believed that the driver might have have lost control of her 4WD, which veered into the opposite lane and crashed head-on into the lorry.”

It is said that the two were on their way to downtown from Kubong.

The injured three are all Slovaks, comprising a man, 57, and two women – aged 51 and 61. They are now in Limbang Hospital undergoing treatment.

The four tourists had earlier stayed overnight at a homestay in Kuala Mendalam before returning here.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
