KUCHING: Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin retains his seat as Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Mambong (Puncak Borneo) branch chairman.

He won the post, which he held since 2012, uncontested in the election for the branch held today.

Two empty posts, deputy branch chairman and vice branch chairman were filled by Iana Akam and Joseph Akam respectively.

For the 20 committee members posts, five were contested while the rest were via appointment.

For the party election process, Willie said it went smoothly since it started at 9am until 4pm today with voting centre at the Puncak Borneo Parliamentary Service Center.

“There’s no issues so far though we have voters from different camps (Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Mohd Rafizi Ramli).”

“I leave all the decisions to the voters themselves,” he said when met at the voting center.

As at 11am, 15 per cent of voters turned out and cast their vote via e-voting.

The PKR Sarawak election is the turning point for who will win the seat as the party’s deputy president, between the incumbent Azmin and Rafizi.
