Over 36,000 in Sarawak to sit for SPM exams this year

KUCHING: A total of 36,106 candidates from all across Sarawak will be sitting for this year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, which runs from tomorrow (Nov 13) until Dec 13.

Of the total, 33,645 – or 93.81 per cent of – candidates are from national-type secondary schools (SMK), 1,063 (2.94 per cent) are from private secondary schools, while 1,398 (3.88 per cent) are personal candidates.

These candidates are to sit for the SPM papers at 275 examination centres – 212 at the SMKs, 13 at private secondary schools and 50 at personal centres.

According to Sarawak Education Department, 277 area supervisors and 2,140 inspectors have been appointed to oversee the examinations in Sarawak.

“All candidates are reminded to bring along their MyKad, ‘acknowledgement slips’ or ‘candidate entry slips’ when taking the examinations,” the department said.
