LAHAD DATU: A motorcyclist was killed when he collided with a motorcycle at Kampung Tanjung Labian road near here on Sunday.
Norizam Husin, a 23-year-old plantation worker, was killed on the spot about 10pm.
Lahad Datu police chief ACP Nasri Mansor said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was riding a Yamaha motorcycle heading towards Pantai Tanjung Labian road while the other motorcycle came from the opposite direction.
According to Nasri, the deceased was reportedly speeding when negotiating a bend in the opposite direction.
“The deceased, unaware of another motorcycle travelling without its headlights, collided head-on with the other motorcycle. The impact of the collision killed the deceased on the spot while the motorcyclist sustained severe injuries,” he said.
Nasri said both riders were not suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. However, blood samples were taken for analysis.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
