Labuan’s Pakatan Harapan leadership line-up announced yesterday with PKR Labuan chief Simsudin Sidek (fourth left, seated) being appointed as chairman, deputy Yahya Saleha (third right, seated) and three vice chairmen – Adanan Khatim (second left, seated), Dr Ramli Tahir (third left, seated) and Koh Chien Chee.

LABUAN: Labuan’s Pakatan Harapan component parties are ‘opening their door’ to all the more the 300 MIC members who have dissolved the party to be part of PH’s team.

Announcing this yesterday, its newly-appointed chairman Simsudin Sidek said: “We are open-minded to their entry to any of the three PH component parties here, they can join Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), and they can also join PKR and DAP, it all depends on them to choose the political ideology they subscribe to.”

Simusudin was speaking at a press conference after announcing the Labuan’s PH leadership line-up for 2018-2021 at PKR Labuan office here yesterday.

He said the PH Labuan especially the PKR here would not be blacklisting MIC leaders and members who wanted to join them, as the PH Labuan was always wanting to come together to strengthen unity of the people.

Labuan MIC chief Datuk Ramasamy Rengasamy on Nov 18 announced the Labuan MIC had been dissolved with its members calling it quits and declaring their support for the new Pakatan Harapan government.

Parti Amanah Negara strategic director Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad was reported to have said the party was opening its door to non-Muslims, not just as members, but also office bearers.

He said as a party that practised inclusive and non-discriminatory principles, all its members would have equal rights irrespective of their religion, race and background.

All active full-fledged party members, he said, had equal rights to vote and be voted to any positions and to become office bearers at all levels.

However, he said there was a clause in the party’s constitution with regard to the positions of president and deputy president that limit the positions only to those who truly understand Islam and were committed to its principles and values.
