KUCHING: Sarawak is set to become the main exporter of agro-based food products of international standard, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Uggah, who is also Sarawak Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister, said the goal could be achieved through the ministry’s efforts in implementing the agro-farming transformation programme.

“The ministry has allocated RM315 million to diversify efforts through research and other measures to improve the quality of products, which had the potential to be marketed,” he said at the ministry’s Integrity Day celebration here today.

He also said that as public servants, it was their duty to give the best to the people.

“Execute your duties with integrity and ensure every programme by the ministry is successfully carried out and reaches the people who really need it.

“If all our efforts and programmes are successful, we can change the lives of those in rural areas by closing the gap between the rural poor and urban rich,” he said. – Bernama
