MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) will introduce two Master’s degree programmes next year to meet increasing demands and also to prepare post-graduates for the ever-competitive workplace.

The Master of International Business will commence in the first semester next February, while the Master of Commerce in Marketing will begin in the second semester in July.

Enrolment for both courses is underway, with more information available via courses.curtin.edu.my/courses-and-study/postgrad.

In a recent statement, Curtin Malaysia said the Master of International Business provides a highly practical perspective on one of the most demanding business issues today – leading in a multi-faceted, international and multicultural global environment.

The Master of Commerce in Marketing is industry-focused, with emphasis on topics of relevance to marketing such as marketing communication, digital marketing and the application of marketing in manufacturing and service industries.

“A post-graduate course deepens a student’s knowledge and perspectives, while expanding the option for advancement.

“Employers seek to hire the best, especially for mid-level and senior roles, so the demand is shifting to candidates with post-graduate qualifications and working experience,” said Curtin Malaysia’s pro vice-chancellor, president and chief executive Prof Jim Mienczakowski.

He said there are many companies operating across international boundaries, with employers worldwide placing increasing value on graduates with international outlook or experience. Thus, the Master of International Business is most appropriate.

Curtin Malaysia provides post-graduate qualifications either by coursework or research. Coursework degrees comprise Curtin’s Master of Science in Project Management, Master of Policy Sciences, Master of Engineering Management and Master of Petroleum Engineering, with the inclusion of Master of International Business and Master of Commerce in Marketing next year.

Research-based degrees available are Master of Philosophy (also known as ‘Master by Research’) in the fields of accounting, economics and finance, management, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, geology, petroleum engineering, as well as media, culture and creative arts.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes are in the fields of engineering and science, environmental science and business.

Candidates may enrol into a post-graduate programme either full-time or part-time. A master’s degree programme usually takes a minimum of one year and maximum of two years of equivalent full-time study.

Doctoral programmes typically cover a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years of equivalent full-time study.
