KUCHING: The Wushu Federation of Sarawak (WFS), Sarawak State Sports Council and Sarawak Sports Corporation are organising the 2nd Sarawak Wuwang Cup Invitation Championship at MBKS Indoor Stadium in Pending from Nov 26-28.
Organising chairman Allen Wong Siew Poh said the event is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports with Adabi as the main sponsor.
Its objectives include promoting the sport, exchange among athletes from different countries and sports tourism.
Wong, who is WFS president, added that last year’s competition had received good feedback from athletes outside the country. He is expecting over 200 participants for this second edition.
Categories to be competed include optional and group A,B, C taijiquan, taijijian, changquan, nanquan, daoshu, jianshu, nandao, men’s and women’s duilian, group (bare hand/weapon/mix), 32-style taijijian, 24-style taijiquan, traditional fist and long weapon.
Minister of Toursim, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will grace the opening on Nov 27 while Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan will close the event on Nov 28. Wushu enthusiasts and members of the public are welcome to watch the two days of competition as entrance is free.
