KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday reminded the organiser and participants of the Himpunan Jihad Perkasa rally today to ensure it is peaceful and not to break any laws.

The rally organised by Malay right wing movement Perkasa is scheduled to take place in Jalan Raja Alang here in conjunction with Perkasa’s 9th annual general meeting.

“Do not do anything that can disturb public order or make statements that can cause racial tension. Malaysia just went through rioting incidents at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Seafield (Subang Jaya) which has caused uneasiness among the multiracial society in the country,” he said in a posting on his official Facebook account.

To ensure the rally proceeds peacefully and in accordance with the law, Muhyiddin said police will be monitoring it closely and would not hesitate to act against anyone who tries to stir trouble.

He further reminded that everyone is responsible for preserving harmony and should not resort to any action that can jeopardise this.

“I believe Perkasa as a non-governmental organisation that has been around for a long time under responsible leaders, will certainly understand and uphold the rule of law, harmony, public order and peace of the nation,” added Muhyiddin. — Bernama
