SEREMBAN: The opposition walked out of the Negeri Sembilan state legislative assembly yesterday after Speaker Zulkefly Omar did not allow the tabling of a motion to discuss the state government stand on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).

All the 16 opposition state assemblymen left the house at about noon after Zulkefly did not allow Rantau assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to table the motion, saying the ICERD issue had been solved at the federal level by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The House continued with the budget session.

Mohamad, when approached outside the House, said he was disappointed and questioned the openness of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

He said it would be good for the assembly to record the motion and debate for the assembly to back the federal government on its decision not to ratify the ICERD. — Bernama
