KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is expected to appoint its Sarawak chairman after its annual general assembly from Dec 28 to 30 in Putrajaya.

A Bersatu source said Prime Minister and Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself will make the announcement.

“The chairman will be determined by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council. We do not know who will be nominated. The selection will be made at the central level. We here only focus on recruiting members,” the source told Bernama yesterday.

It also said that the valid registration of Bersatu members can only be done at the secretariat in every zone in the state.

“In Sarawak, we have six zones. Anyone interested to become a Bersatu member can register at the secretariats. Every membership form has a serial number and every zone has a password for the registration.

After the online registration, we will issue an official letter as proof of membership,” it said.

The source said Sarawak Bersatu officially has 15,700 members who have registered online.

“Sarawak Bersatu will not attend the annual general assembly because we are focused on gathering members. We will send 25 observers,” it said.
