SIBU: Distrepark Sdn Bhd, the master developer of Sibu Jaya, receives praise for continuing to ensure that the township would expand and progress further.

Such an undertaking was publicly commended by Kong Yii Tee, Halimah Japar and Matthew Chuat Seribu – three councillors from Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) – during a gathering at the township last weekend.

It is known that the township is under SRDC’s jurisdiction.

“My colleagues and I are mindful of the fact that the developer is not required to do a lot of the things that they have been doing, after handing over any completed project to the council.

“Yet, the developer (Distrepark) continues to help – from landscaping and maintenance, to hosting fun-filled events. All these serve to bridge the business community in Sibu Jaya and SRDC,” said Kong, pointing out the gathering as ‘another indication of the supportive spirit of the developer’.

“As Sibu Jaya continues to grow even bigger and the business precinct becomes larger, there is a more pressing need for all parties – the residents, the business community, the developer and the council – to work even closer together.

“This rapidly-expanding township, with more than 6,000 homes and a population of over 30,000, would need everyone’s cooperation for it to become the model township that it is destined to be.”

Kong observed that the physical transformation of the township had been very obvious – from tree-lined boulevards to sprawling compounds of the business precinct.

“It’s time we all take a closer look at how we treat our own homes and our compounds.”
