KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah vice president Datuk Junz Wong expressed his astonishment at the RM2.89 billion allocation for Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) alone by the Federal Government.

Junz pointed out that Federal Government allocated RM5 billion to Sabah in the 2019 Budget, while DBKL alone almost got two-third of the sum allocated to Sabah.

“Try to imagine the whole of Sabah was only allocated RM5 billion while DBKL alone has been allocated RM2.89 billion for its development in 2019. Does it reflect the importance and status of Sabah being omitted?” he asked.

Junz reaffirmed on as per contribution of Sabah and as the equal partner of Malaysia (a Federation of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak), surely Sabah deserved better treatment from the Federal Government.

“In fact, Sabah has the country’s second busiest international airport in Kota Kinabalu. Both tourists and residents of Kota Kinabalu deserve better facilities and fair treatment from the Federal Government.

“Whatever programmes being planned for implementation must be extended to Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) with allocations as well, because KK folks also face the same problems as KL – traffic jam, poor aid, house repairs, drainage and road repairs, among others.

“Why only DBKL is allocated with such a huge budget and marginalised DBKK?” questioned Junz who is Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Sabah.

Junz also revealed that Sabah was unhappy with the Federal Government 2019 Budget as it was not even close to a fair deal.

He suggested that Federal Government add a greater amount of allocation which was trully a fair treat to Sabah and all fellow Sabahans, or it might be timely to give back 40% of the oil and gas royalties based on production and not on net profit.
