KOTA KINABALU: Residents and business owners along Jalan Sulaman have been advised to stock up their water supply for the next couple of days while the State Water Department carry out emergency work to repair a burst pipe there.

Its Director Ir. Amarjit Singh said the affected areas are 1B Hypermall, Kampung Pulau Penampang, Kampung Suang Parai, the KFC drive-thru, Kingfisher Sulaman, Kuaters Latihan Bomba Jalan Sulaman and Sulaman Sentral.

“The pipe was closed at 2pm today so water pressure in these locations will be low and some may not be getting water supply,” he said adding that the repair works could take up to two days to complete.

“We regret the inconveniences caused and those who may have an inquiries on the issue can call the Water Department’s 24 hour hotline 088-326888,” said Amarjit.

According to him, the contractor had damaged the 450 mm MSCL pipe twice this week and he will be discussing with the state Public Works Department on the course of action that can be taken against the contractor.

When asked on what sort of action it would entail, Amarjit said getting the contractor to pay compensation could be one of them.
