KUCHING: A Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leader has taken to social media to vent his frustration on what he perceived as poor supervision by the Public Works Department (JKR) and main contractors for the Pan Borneo Project’s poor road conditions that are putting motorists in danger.

“I have been receiving a lot of complaints from road users, especially the Sibu Airport-Selangau-Bintulu stretch,” said Tamin state assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang in a Facebook post.

“They have complained that many vehicles have been damaged, tyres burst and frequent road accidents due to the pothole ridden roads,” he added.

Christopher also lamented the lack of road safety signage made visible to motorists.

“I would like to appeal to those involved with the Pan Borneo highway construction project like JKR and LBU to supervise and make sure the contractors are repairing and assuring the roads are in good condition and safe for public use.”

Meanwhile in the comments section of the post, netizens have been tagging Works Minister Baru Bian on many road issues, including the recent incident that resulted in a huge traffic jam involving thousands of Sarawakians road users along the Pan Borneo Highway.
