SIBU: The New Year countdown at Sibu Town Square on Monday night went on well despite the drizzles.
The programme culminated with a fireworks display.
The event, organised by the Sibu Municipal Council, started at 8.30pm with stage performances which included dances and songs by entertainers from the various races.
Second Finance Minister and Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh officiated at the function.
SMC chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King and his deputy Rogayah Jamain, Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming and Sibu Resident Charles Siaw were among thousands of people present.
