First woman Resident for Sarikei

SARIKEI: Sarikei Division received its new Resident in the person of Felicia Tan Ya Ha yesterday.

Outgoing Resident Mohd Junaidi Mohidin officially handed over the office to Tan in a brief ceremony held at the Sarikei Resident’s Office conference room here yesterday morning.

Prior to her appointment, Tan was deputy director of State Implementation Monitoring Unit (Simu) under the Chief Minister’s Office.

Junaidi, on the other hand, has been transferred to take up the post of executive secretary at Majlis Mesyuarat Negeri Sarawak (State Executive Council).

Tan is not new to Sarikei as she had served as Deputy Resident from November 2006 to April, 2009.  She created history of sort as the first woman Resident for the Division as all her 16 predecessors were men.

Among those present at the handing over ceremony were Deputy Sarikei Resident Abang Mohd Porkan Abang Budiman, Sarikei District officer Christopher Ranggau, Julau District officer Khalid Andong, SAO Yalin Asan from Pakan District Office, Divisional heads of government departments and local community leaders.
