KUCHING: A 33-year-old man was yesterday sentenced to three-year jail for assaulting his 56-year-old mother.

Izamri Rabaie from a village in Semariang pleaded guilty before Magistrate Moh Taufik Mohd Yusuf to the charge framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
The court was told that he threw a glass plate at his mother which injured her right knee around 3.30pm last Saturday.
He was arrested on Monday after his mother lodged a police report.
She sought treatment at Sarawak General Hospital here for a 2-cm laceration wound at the shin.
According to brief fact of he case, Izamri was very angry at his mother because she did not want to go to his sister’s home together with him.
The glass plate could be considered a weapon capable of causing death.
