KUALA LUMPUR: Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) chief Admiral Datuk Reza Mohd Sany has outlined four main thrusts to ensure the navy maintains its excellence in guarding the country’s sovereignty and security in territorial waters.

Reza Mohd Sany who is the 17th RMN chief said the thrusts are armada preparedness, rebuilding RMN armada, improving integration and team spirit and producing the best human capital.

“For Armada preparedness, the maintenance and restoration schedules of ships would be adhered to without compromise.

“To rebuild its Armada, the navy will focus on efforts to acquire fast interceptor craft to strengthen capability for operation in the coast of Eastern Sabah,” he said when presenting his maiden command at Wisma Pertahanan here yesterday.

Elaborating further, Mohamad Reza said through the third thrust, RMN personnel were told to instil a culture of brotherhood in every aspect of training, administration and operation implementation.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Reza also pledged RMN’s full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on its investigation on two navy officers who was detained in Langkawi yesterday.

He said RMN would not compromise with any abuse by its personnel.

Any officers or staff of RMN found involved in corruption or abuse of power would face dismissal, he warned. — Bernama
