Lokman Noor Adam
KUCHING: Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam has been arrested under the Sedition Act 1948.
According to a statement by NGO Pemantau Malaysia Barus, Lokman was arrested yesterday after the police issued a summons for him to provide his statement at the Bukit Amaan police headquarters at 2pm yesterday.
At the police station, Lokman was questioned over a video alleging that the Pakatan Hrapan (PH) government was covering up the killing of fireman Muhammad Adib mohd Kassim who had died three weeks ago after receiving fatal injuries from rioters during a the temple riots at USJ 25 Subang Jaya on Nov 27, 2017.
“He was told that he would be detained under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act. He abided by the arrest order and promised to give his full cooperation to the police in their investigation. Following the arrest, Lokman was taken to several locations,” Pemantau secretary Lisa Yahaya said in the statement.
It is learnt that Lokman has spent the night at Dang Wangi police station’s lock-up.
