Fire and Rescue Department extracting out the victim’s body from the Nissan Navara.

TAWAU: A 50-year-old Pakistani man was killed in an accident at Mile 25 Apas Road involving a Nissan Navara and a Nissan trailer on Tuesday.

District police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the victim identified as Gul Hazrat died in the incident that occurred at 2pm, while his 48-year-old wife was injured on the head and his 37-year-old relative was injured on the knee.

The 31-year-old trailer driver was unhurt.

He said the victim and his wife had earlier picked up the relative arriving from Kota Kinabalu from the airport.

At the scene of the accident, the victim tried to avoid from going through a puddle due to heavy rain but lost control and hit a streetlight on the road divider before the vehicle skidded into the opposite lane and rammed the right side of the trailer.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel extracted the victim’s body that was pinned in the driver side and medical officer pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1)(A) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
