Sports Toto presents Chinese New Year donation to needy seniors

SARIKEI: A total of 100 needy local senior citizens received hampers and ‘ang pows’ from Sports Toto in a simple ceremony here yesterday afternoon.

According to a statement issued by Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the donation  in conjunction with Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration kicked off on Jan 17 and will end on Jan 21.

“The local recipients were among 18,000 from 50 locations across the nation selected for the campaign with the aim of instilling positive values such as respecting and caring for the elderly,” the statement added.

The statement said that since the start of the CNY donation campaign in 1988, Sports Toto had contributed over RM21 million to more than 391,000 senior citizens nationwide and the company hoped to continue the campaign for many years to come.

“This CNY donation camaign is Sports Toto major Helping Hands programme which carries out various corporate social responsibility projects. The company also contributes substantial amounts annually to National Sports Council and local sports associations to develop sporting talents,” the statement concluded.

Sarikei MP Andrew Wong Ling Biu was invited to present the donation witnessed by assistant manager (administration) Tee Kim Liang from Sports Toto.
