KUCHING: It was a dream come true for a student from UCSI University Sarawak Campus, being one of two Sarawakians selected to go to Japan for the Lions Clubs International Youth Exchange Programme.

Having stayed in Japan for one month, BA (Hons) Event and Tourism student Sharon Lim was excited to share with everyone her experiences gained through this programme.

“I met the Leos and the Lions in Japan and experienced different lifestyles and cultures when I stayed with two families in Kagoshima for two weeks, and one family in Hiroshima for another two weeks.

“I am so lucky to have been selected as one of the candidates to go to Japan for this programme. I joined the events hosted by the Leos and the Lions in Japan and was given the opportunity to see how the Leos and the Lions in different countries serve their community.

“In fact, I was more than happy to learn from them and will definitely share these experiences to my fellow Leos in Kuching,” she added.

Being a student of event and tourism management, Sharon is actively involved in numerous events and activities run in UCSI University Sarawak Campus.

“The event and tourism management (field) has always been my passion and interest. I chose this field in order to get professional insights into this industry.

“The reason I am studying in UCSI is that it is a praxis university and I believe that the real-life, hands-on experiences provided by this university will help me to evolve into a better person, and prepare me to overcome challenges that I will face in this industry,” she said.
