Man charged with outrage of modesty, molesting own daughter

KOTA KINABALU: A father will stand trial on June 17-18 this year for a charge of molesting his own teenage daughter.

Sessions Court judge Elsie Primus fixed the date on the 41-year-old man, after he pleaded not guilty to the charge which was read to him, yesterday.

He was alleged to have committed the offence in a bedroom of a house at a village in Pitas at 7pm on July 17, 2015.

The alleged offence was framed under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and read together under Section 16 (2)(c) of the same Act.

Section 14 (a) of the Act carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping while Section 16 of the Act provides for an additional jail term of not exceeding five years and whipping of not less than two strokes of the cane, upon conviction.

The bail of the unrepresented accused was extended, pending disposal of his case.

In a separate case, the same court fixed June 19 and 20 this year for the trial of a man who was accused of molesting his granddaughter.

The judge fixed the date on the 39-year-old grandfather after he maintained his plea of not guilty.

He was alleged to have committed the offence against the 15-year-old girl in the bedroom of a house at a village in  Kota Marudu at 12.30am on March 12, 2017.

The grandfather faces a charge under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and read together under Section 16 (2)(c) of the same Act.

He is currently released on RM6,000 bail and was not represented.
