SIBU: Jimisar Autotrade Sdn Bhd (Jimisar) which is a Mitsubishi authorised 3S dealer, has started the year on a promising note with the introduction of the new Mitsubishi Triton.

With the second largest market share for pick-up truck in Malaysia, Jimisar Sibu sales manager John Lau said: “We believe with this superior product in hand, Triton will be able to see a great growth in 2019.”

“We are looking to capture a bigger portion of the market especially from the younger generation,” he said at the new Triton introduction ceremony at Jimisar Sibu premises in Brooke Drive here yesterday.

Set to meet the growing pick-up market, the new Triton comes in five variants offering a variety of first in class features.

Mitsubishi Triton was first introduced in 1978 as Forte. In September 2016, the model changed the engine for the VGT models to a 2.4L MIVEC VGT turbo diesel engine capable of 181 PS and 430 Nm.

Carrying forward the distinctive engine, the 2019 Triton is the sixth generation of the product line.

Last year was a game changing year for Triton. The first half of the year saw 3,120 units of the Triton sold and registered – representing a 68 per cent increase compared to 1,855 units during the same period in 2017.

“Triton was being repositioned by then to benefit our customers not only in terms of handling, performance and safety, but also to price it affordably to cater for different customers. Thus, the positive sales results are further boosted,” a spokesman for Jimisar said.

The Mitsubishi Triton received the Pick-up Trucks of Malaysia award at the Cars of Malaysia Awards ceremony in 2018.

Visually, the new Mitsubishi Triton features a front end that closely resembles the Xpander and Pajero Sport, featuring the ‘Dynamic Shield’ front fascia with slim bi-LED headlights and LED daytime running lights.

Similar to the Xpander, the front fog lights are housed at the edges of the bumper. In addition, the new Super Select 4WD II from the latest Pajero Sport with Off-road Mode (Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock) is a game changer first in class feature.

The latest model is available in White Diamond, Black Mica, Sterling Silver, and Graphite Grey Metallic.

Inside, the Triton gains some new switchgear, new air vents, and also soft touch materials and stitching on the centre arm rest, floor console, and parking brake.

On the safety end, the new Triton comes with features such as Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA), and Auto High A Beam (AHB).

Depending on the variant, the New Triton is equipped with seven SRS airbags, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability with Traction Control (ASTC), Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descend Control (HDC), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA), and Brake Override System.

For all these safety features, the New Triton has been awarded a five-star rating by Asean Ncap.

Mitsubishi Malaysia offers a 5-year or 200,000km mileage warranty for all Triton variant powered with the 2.4L MIVEC engine.

Additionally, customers can enjoy free labour service of up to three visits or two years free maintenance service up to five visits, according to customer’s choice.
