Land, Survey Dept detects illegal rock removal activities

KUCHING: The enforcement unit of Land and Survey Department has put a stop to rock-removal activities, said to have been conducted without approval, in Sarikei and Betong divisions.

Ten heavy machinery items were also seized as evidence during the operation on Wednesday.

The department’s public relations unit, in a statement, said the activities were detected during a patrol by its personnel.

The case is being investigated under Section 32A of the State Land Code (Chapter 81).

The  department  also  requested those  involved  in  extracting  and removal  of  rocks to refer first to the nearest Land and Survey Office  to  avoid  any  enforcement action  being taken  against them.
