Teen dies in early morning motorcycle accident

KUCHING: A 16-year-old student from Petra Jaya was pronounced dead at the scene after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a street lamp at Jalan Sultan Tengah at around 5am today.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, said the teen, identified as Mohamad Nur Isyaduddin Ibrahim was heading to Semariang when he crashed his motorcycle.

“It is believed that he lost control of his motorcycle, which led to it crashing into one of the street lamps along the road,” said Alexson who confirmed the case.

The victim did not posses a valid motorcycle license was pronounced dead by paramedics from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The body was later sent to the SGH’s morgue for a postmortem.

“The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” said Alexson.
