KUCHING: Heart patient Alfred Tinus Nichalus Noing is seeking for donations from the public to help fund his medical expenses to Kuala Lumpur for his surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

The 31-year-old from Kampung Rukam, Lundu suffers from a leaky heart valve and is scheduled to undergo an operation at IJN on April 1.

PKR Mas Gading branch chairman Boniface Willy Tumek on Tuesday led his party branch members to pay Alfred a visit at his home and to present some contributions collected from the branch’s committee members.

“We sympathise with Alfred and hope that our contribution will help ease his financial burden to undergo his treatment,” he said.

The donation was presented to Alfred by PKR Mas Gading branch deputy chairman Francis Teron Kadap, who is also the PKR candidate for Opar in the next state election.

According to Boniface, Alfred is currently staying with his elderly parents and is the sole breadwinner of the family.

“He earns a monthly income of RM920 working as a security guard for an oil palm collection centre at his village,” he said.

He explained that Alfred will be accompanied by his brother Faizal Nichlaus Noing to Kuala Lumpur for his surgery and the airfare for the duo will be borne by the welfare section of the Health Department.

“However, they need financial assistance of approximately RM3,000 to pay for accommodation and expenses for food and transportation during their stay in Kuala Lumpur,” he said, adding that the siblings will be staying in the capital for around eight days.

“The donations can be channeled to Alfred’s RHB bank account at 1-11155-0017224-6,” he said.
