MIRI: Villagers of Kampung Subak in Lambir are in need of a new bridge as the present one is in a bad and unsafe condition.

They voiced out their desire to have the new bridge to PKR Women national exco committee member Zulhaidah Suboh, who said the safety of the villagers must be looked into.

“The old bridge needs maintenance or to be rebuilt by the state government as it is old and in a bad condition,” she said when visiting the village yesterday.

Zulhaidah said she visited the village following complaints from the villagers that the bridge and the road to their village had not been repaired by the authorities.

Though the villagers had brought their complaints to Member of Parliament for Sibuti and assemblyman for Lambir she said there had been no action taken by them.

Zulhaidah, who is also PKR Sibuti women chief, disclosed that apart from the bridge and the road, the villagers also complained about water and electric supply to some of the areas in the village.

“I hope the state government and its representatives will look into the problems and issues faced by the people of Kampung Subak as pledged by them in the past few elections,” she said.

During the visit, Zulhaidah also inspected the small river to the village which the villagers claimed to be polluted.

Meanwhile, she urged the villagers to give their support to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government which she said works very hard to bring development for the betterment of the people.
