MIRI: Two women taking a leisure walk along Esplanade Beach here last Sunday afternoon stumbled upon a pistol.
The duo immediately informed several lifeguards nearby about the unexpected find.
In a statement to the press yesterday, Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Capt Mohd Hazle Shah Abd Hamid confirmed the discovery, adding that his men handed over the pistol to the police for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol acknowledged the receipt of the firearm.
According to details on it, it is an airsoft pistol with serial number DMD 168S, manufactured in Taiwan by WE Tactical Co Ltd.
“Police will continue to conduct a more thorough check on the pistol,” he said.
