ENGKILILI: The search for a missing octogenarian entered its third day yesterday, with rescuers expanding their search to a 2km radius from where the victim was last seen.

The search party scours the river within the 2km radius where Langkau was last seen.

A family member of 85-year-old Langkau Belun told The Borneo Post on Monday that the elderly man had entered a forest near Rumah Buda Meriok in Nanga Engkilili on Saturday for reasons unknown.

“We are naturally worried about him. We remain hopeful that he would be found soonest because at his age, he can’t wander about in the forest like he could in his younger days.”

It is learned that rescuers have not found any lead pertaining to the victim’s possible location.

The search team comprises Fire and Rescue Department personnel, police, members of People’s Volunteer Corps and Civil Defence Force, volunteer firefighters, villagers and also members of the police canine unit.
