Sentencing on man who poured hot water on children postponed

GEORGE TOWN: A magistrate’s court here yesterday postponed its decision on a man who pleaded guilty to splashing hot water on his two children, aged nine and 10, pending a medical report on the victims.

Magistrate Rosnee Mohd Radzuan fixed Feb 26 for mention of the case.

Eddy Noramin Ramli, 41, who is an agent of pre-paid cards, was charged with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt on his children by dangerous means.

On the first count, he was charged with splashing hot water on his nine year-old daughter, causing the girl to be scalded on the body, at their house at Flat Kampung Melayu, Ayer Itam here, between 1 am and 2 am on Dec 28 last year.

He was also charged with committing a similar offence on his 10-year-old son at the same place, time and date.

He faces an imprisonment for up to 10 years, or fine, or whipping under Section 324 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
